Major works to enhance the productivity and efficiency of a local manufacturing firm have been completed thanks to significant investment from its parent company.

Hampshire-based Wessex Galvanizers Ltd, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, has seen major improvements to its new processing line, with a new degrease tank, acid tanks and water rinse system installed, as well as an additional crane and a large extension to its building. These advancements will help to speed up production as well as increase the sustainability and efficiency of the plant.

Richard Whiddett, Sales Manager at Wessex Galvanizers, said: “This investment has been extremely exciting for the plant, and will hugely increase our productivity to meet ever-evolving customer needs. The original works began in August last year where we prepared the shop floor for the new and improved processing line. In November, the building extension began which has created much more space in the back end.

“Just before Christmas, the existing acid tanks were carefully removed before work started on the new bund – a vital piece of equipment that contains any leaks from the galvanizing tank and reduces potential fire hazards. The new tanks arrived from Austria and were fitted only a few weeks ago, and since 23rd January production has resumed as normal.

“We’re incredibly grateful to all our customers for their patience whilst the renovation has taken place – the brand-new components will enhance our entire galvanizing process and also speed up production to allow us to work even smarter, more efficiently, and more sustainably.”
